Ryanair Increases the Use of AI In Airline Operations and Secures a Five-Year Contract with Google Cloud

Ryanair (RYA.I) announced on Wednesday that it will implement DeepMind models and Google’s Gemini AI tools throughout its operations as part of a new five-year cloud agreement. The technology will be used to help manage crew scheduling and make operational decisions.
Ryanair, the biggest airline in Europe in terms of passengers, announced that it will provide Alphabet’s (GOOGL.O) new tab Google Workspace and Google Cloud services to 35,000 workers throughout its network in order to help it reach its target of transporting 300 million passengers a year by 2034.
Eddie Wilson, CEO of Ryanair, stated, “We need to make sure we have excellent infrastructure resilience to support this growth, and our new dual-cloud strategy provides this along with technology partners that match our speed and relentless focus on efficiency.”
As part of a plan to lower the risk of technological breakdowns, Ryanair has expanded its use of Amazon Web Services by partnering with Google Cloud.
The Irish airline announced that it would create custom AI agents using Gemini Enterprise to automate certain choices, enhance crew scheduling, and minimize interruption.
Additionally, the carrier stated that it would assist fleet operations and maintenance scheduling with Google DeepMind models, including as AlphaEvolve and WeatherNext. The agreement’s financial terms were not made public.
According to Maureen Costello, Google Cloud’s vise president for the UK, Ireland, and Sub-Saharan Africa, “This agreement shows how deploying generative AI at scale… can help industry leaders scale securely, reduce operational costs, and redefine the travel experience.”
According to research by aviation technology vendor SITA and airline trade organization IATA, the aviation sector has been increasing its use of AI in customer service, operations, and maintenance as airlines look to increase efficiency and dependability.
